Dear colleagues, We’re happy to share the latest telecoupling news, papers and events from your colleagues in this third GLP Telecoupling Working Group newsletter!
In addition to a number of new interesting papers, we are excited to share our second blog post on “The challenge of modelling telecoupled land-use change” that summarises the insights of our last webinar featuring working group members Yue Dou, James Millington, and Birgit Müller. If you didn’t have a chance to participate in the webinar you can find the recording and material here.
Feel free to approach us with new topics for the blog - a great chance to share opinions, perspectives, first results, or stories from the field/lab. We’ll be happy to help set it up!
In the second week of December, we will host our fourth webinar - this time concentrating on some of the challenges and opportunities related to governing telecouplings specifically focusing on company policies for reducing deforestation (find the invitation below and register here). We hope that you enjoy these webinars as much as we do - in general, but especially this year, they’ve been a great way of staying in touch and exchanging ideas and knowledge. And we invite you to propose new themes for the next webinars in 2021!
As 2020 is drawing to a close, we want to send our best wishes to you and your families. This has been a trying year indeed, and we hope that you manage to stay well, healthy and sane!
Your WG Coordinators, Cecilie Friis & Julie Zähringer If you would like to contribute to a webinar or write a blog post, please contact us any time: Julie (julie.zaehringer@unibe.ch) and Cecilie (cefr@ign.ku.dk). Please also send news, jobs, events, and open calls for collaboration for this quarterly e-newsletter directly to Lauren Hertel (lhertel@glp.earth) and us. The deadline for content for the next quarterly newsletter is 15 February 2021.
