Dear Colleague,
The GLP Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) and IPO are delighted to present the latest GLP Science Plan and Implementation Strategy for 2024-2028! Building upon the foundation laid by the previous version published in 2016, the new Science Plan represents over two years of dedicated effort by the SSC. The SSC acknowledges the complexity of representing the full scope of the GLP community's work. Nonetheless, we have created this version, which we hope can serve as a guide to shape a scientific agenda for our community, while fulfilling our terms of reference as a vibrant global research network of Future Earth.
This Science Plan is designed to offer a comprehensive perspective on how the GLP community perceives global issues and its approach to research. In an evolution from its predecessors, it shifts focus from enumerating specific research topics to outlining a strategic, programmatic framework for research that can serve as an invitation for engagement with the wider GLP community. Meanwhile, the Implementation Strategy aims to bring transparency to the community in terms of how GLP is governed and the functions of the various GLP bodies, while providing useful information on opportunities for your participation.
We see this as a living document, open to updates and improvements. And, as we approach the Open Science Meeting and beyond, there will be opportunities for community input and feedback. This approach will help us to keep the new Science Plan pertinent, inclusive, aligned with our evolving scientific objectives, and relevant to all of you.
You can download and read the document at: https://glp.earth/our-science/science-plan.
In conjunction with this release, we’re also extending the deadline for session submissions for #GLPOSM5 to Monday, January 8, 2024! We hope the extension will give you extra time to explore how your session preparations and ideas might be in conversation with the new Science Plan and meeting themes and, as such, contribute to shaping the scientific agenda of our community.
Happy reading! Ariane de Bremond, Executive Director and on behalf of the GLP Scientific Steering Committee |
